Computer Science and Technology

Program Overview

The Computer Science and Technology discipline has been offering graduate programs since 2002, building on the strengths and training features of the Department of Computer Science and Technology at Tsinghua University. It is part of the "Data Science and Information Technology" theme within the "6+1" thematic areas at the Shenzhen International Graduate School, primarily training graduate students in the electronic information field. This includes the Master of Computer Technology professional degree program and the doctoral academic program in Computer Science and Technology.

The Master's in Electronic Information (Computer Technology) program originated from the full-time Master of Engineering in Computer Technology program at Tsinghua University's Department of Computer Science and Technology and has been enrolling students for 13 consecutive cohorts since 2009, achieving excellent results.

The Computer Science and Technology discipline mainly focuses on areas such as Internet technology, media computing, network security, and intelligent computing/artificial intelligence. The program emphasizes innovation in fundamental computer theories and the industrial application of cutting-edge computer technologies. It values hands-on skills and the moral development of students. Through practical and experimental teaching, the program helps students enhance their overall abilities and qualities, making significant contributions to technological innovation.

Training Features

The program adopts a tailored, mentor-based training system, with one-on-one guidance from advisors. Students can choose research projects based on their interests. In addition to compulsory and professional courses, students have flexible course options, including cross-disciplinary courses from the X9 Alliance shared curriculum at Xili Lake International Science and Education City or online courses from the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRUs), an alliance of top research universities across the Pacific Rim. Students are encouraged to attend high-level academic conferences, expand their international perspectives, and enhance their academic influence.

Program Features

This discipline has established two provincial/ministerial-level research centers:

The Shenzhen Branch of the Ministry of Education's Computer Information Network Research Center.

The Guangdong Provincial New Internet Engineering Technology Research Center.

Additionally, it has three municipal-level key laboratories:

The Shenzhen Key Laboratory of Software Defined Network Technology.

The Shenzhen Engineering Laboratory for Next-Generation Internet Routing and Transmission Applications.

The Shenzhen Engineering Laboratory for Intelligent Semantic Mining Technology.

There are also two joint laboratories:

The Tsinghua-CUHK Joint Research Center for Media Science and Technology Systems.

The Tsinghua-Southampton Network Science Laboratory.
