To boost development of information technology and cultural creative industry in Shenzhen and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Tsinghua SIGS and Tencent have reached strategic cooperation mainly in the interactive design and technology field to jointly establish the interactive media design and technology center, carry out professional master degree education, establish a system of professional courses and develop frontier technology and social application research. In the morning of May 19, the strategic cooperation signing ceremony and seminar of relevant disciplines were held in Tsinghua SIGS. Persons who attended the meeting include Yang Bin, the Vice President of Tsinghua University, Gao Hong, the Executive Director of Tsinghua SIGS, Ma Xiaoyi, the Senior Vice President of tencent, and Xia Lin, the Vice President of the Interactive Entertainment Business Group of tencent.
Yang Bin expressed on the launching ceremony that Tsinghua SIGS would gradually cooperate with domestic leading innovative enterprises such as Tencent and would also carry out more extensive international cooperation with international top universities to realize joint cultivation. Yang Bin introduced that the establishment of "interactive media design and technology center" under cooperation of Tsinghua SIGS and Tencent aimed to timely bring the latest industry demand to professional education and talent cultivation, it was planned that formal enrollment would be launched in Sep. 2019, it would be open for excellent students all over the world, a new selection and assessment mode would be adopted and it was predicted that classes would be taught in 2020.
Ma Xiaoyi expressed that the strategic cooperation between Tsinghua and Tencent in establishment of the interactive media design and technology center meant the development of master degree education in the interactive media design and technology field in China and the implementation of relevant studies and it was an interdisciplinary education breakthrough with the support and participation of the industry field in talent cultivation.

Tsinghua SIGS was established formally on Mar. 29, 2019. It is the expansion and transcendence based on Tsinghua GSST and Tsinghua-Berkeley Shenzhen Institute. It will boost development of Tsinghua University into a first-class university and construction of top disciplines by virtue of high-level international cooperation, high-level talent cultivation and high-quality innovative practice in order to contribute to sustainable development of Shenzhen City, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, countries, regions and even the whole world.

It is the first strategic cooperation between Tsinghua SIGS and Shenzhen enterprise since Tsinghua SIGS was established as well as a new measure where Tsinghua SIGS carries out scientific studies, social services and innovative practices at the international academic frontier to promote industry-university-research collaborative innovation.
