Delegation from Tsinghua University Vanke School of Public Health visits SIGS

On October 9, a delegation from the Vanke School of Public Health, including Dean Dr. Margaret Chan, Executive Associate Dean Liang Wannian, Associate Dean Wang Kaibo, and Dean's Office Director Yin Qi, visited Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School (SIGS).


The group first visited the Institute for Hospital Management where Deputy Dean of the Institute Xue Lei gave introductions on faculty building, education models, research areas, as well as the Institute’s sustained cooperation with Johns Hopkins University, Harvard University and Yale University. The two parties then discussed future cooperation intentions.

The group then toured the shared and open platform of the Precision Medicine and Healthcare Research Center with Center Director Peter Lobie and other faculty representatives. At the microscopic imaging lab, Dr. Chan interacted with students about their experiments and research topics.

Following the tour, the delegation met with leadership of SIGS. Executive Dean Gao Hong talked about the current development of SIGS, while Ma Lan mentioned about research conditions and future plans of the Institute of Biopharmaceutical and Health Engineering. Dr. Chan pointed out that Shenzhen has many advantages in scientific research, and that the exploration of professors of practice at the Beijing main campus is a good point of reference for SIGS.

The Tsinghua University Vanke School of Public Health was established in April this year, with Emeritus Director-General of World Health Organization, Dr. Margaret Chan, as the inaugural Dean of the School. It is aimed at covering four research fields and is oriented towards graduate education in: preventative medicine, comprehensive healthcare, big data in healthcare, and public health policy and management.
