Opening: Post-doc position at Tsinghua SIGS Infection and Host Immunity Laboratory

Job Description:

A postdoctoral position is available immediately for highly motivated Ph.D. graduates with background in immunology, microbiology, virology, and/or other related fields who are interested in delineating the biology and application of innate-like T cell populations, particularly the relatively recently discovered mucosa-associated invariant T (MAIT) cells, in health and infectious diseases.The aims of the Infection and Host Immunity laboratory are to identify and develop novel, host-directed vaccine and treatment strategies against various infectious diseases. The successful candidate may conduct a variety of research activities which include planning, designing, organising, and conducting research studies within the overall scope of a research project under the supervision of the Principal Investigator. Additional responsibilities will include careful record keeping, data analyses, manuscript and grant preparations, fellowship applications, and graduate student mentorships.



Qualifications may include the following:

  • A Ph.D. in immunology, microbiology, virology, and/or related area, the doctoral degree obtained within 2 years.

  • Extensive experience in immunological and/or microbiological assays. Strong experience in advanced polychromatic flow cytometry is highly desirable.

  • Strong background and working knowledge of basic molecular and cellular biology techniques such as cell culture, cloning, real-time PCR, and western blotting

  • Experience in safely working with human blood and tissue samples derived from healthy donors and infectious disease patients is highly desirable.

  • Experience with animal models and analyses of human clinical samples is highly desirable.

  • A proven track record in the form of publications in international English language journals.

  • Ability to communicate in written and spoken English.


Salary, Subsidies, and Benefits:

  • Obtain relevant salary and housing arrangement according to Tsinghua SIGS post-doctoral and related regulations in Shenzhen.

  • Application-based living subsidies of 180,000 RMB (post-tax) per year for postdocs passing proposal-term and mid-term, provided by the Human Resources & Social Security Administration of Shenzhen Municipality.

  • After leaving Tsinghua SIGS, postdocs can apply for research grants of 300,000 RMB in total for three years if they continue to conduct scientific research in Shenzhen and when the related application requirements are met. Also, qualified postdocs are encouraged to apply for Shenzhen High-Level Talents program or Shenzhen Peacock Talents Plan to receive corresponding benefits based on specific application requirements.
