SIGS and UTokyo Department of Bioengineering further cooperation

Tsinghua SIGS and the Department of Bioengineering of University of Tokyo (UTokyo) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in an online ceremony held on May 27.


Among those in attendance were Hiroyuki Takahashi, Head of the Department of Bioengineering at UTokyo; Gao Hong, Executive Dean of Tsinghua SIGS; Ma Lan, Associate Dean of Tsinghua SIGS; Xing Xin-Hui, Associate Dean of the Institute of Biopharmaceutical and Health Engineering (iBHE); and Peter E. Lobie, Member of the Academic Advisory Committee.

Gao Hong said that it is of great significance to sign the MoU during Tsinghua University’s 110th anniversary and Tsinghua SIGS’s 20th anniversary. She looks forward to deepening cooperation with UTokyo’s Department of Bioengineering in areas of education, research and innovation, sharing of faculty resources, and discipline construction, as well as broadening their partnership to achieve mutual benefits.

Hiroyuki Takahashi expressed that Tsinghua University is an important partner of UTokyo and hopes that the MoU will promote in-depth exchange. He wishes for both institutions to join hands and grow together.

Xing Xin-Hui introduced the development of iBHE and shared his experience with previous collaborations between both schools. Prof. Yasuyuki Sakai from UTokyo’s Department of Bioengineering noted that communication and exchange is especially important in the current environment and proposed to strengthen cooperation in various areas.
