The Tsinghua SIGS 2nd International Interdisciplinary Innovation Forum (2021) took place on the morning of October 14th (Beijing time) in a hybrid online and offline format. The forum aims to offer a discussion and exchange platform for domestic and foreign scholars and to attract talented scholars to the SIGS campus. The forum’s speakers included Executive Dean Gao Hong; Secretary of the CPC Tsinghua SlGS Committee Wu Xiaofeng; Associate Deans Ma Lan, Zuo Jian’e, and Victor Chan; Institute of Future Human Habitats Dean Peter Russell; and Institute of Environment and Ecology Dean’s Assistant Wu Qianyuan.
Over 300 scholars attended the forum. They were from various well-known universities and organizations for scientific research, such as Harvard University, University of California-Berkeley, Imperial College London, Hong Kong University, and Tsinghua University, and around seventy percent of them came from overseas.

Associate Dean Victor Chan introduced talent recruitment at SIGS, including faculty recruitment, projects for talents, research start-up funds, salary, and other benefits. Following Associate Dean Victor Chan, Associate Dean Ma Lan introduced scientific research at SIGS, results, and various platforms for scientific research that Tsinghua SIGS offers. Lastly, Associate Dean Zuo Jian’e discussed SIGS’s educational philosophy, teaching styles, and internationalization.

Peter Russell, Dean of the Institute of Future Human Habitats, shared his own academic research experiences as well as his interdisciplinary research and educational philosophy in the field of architecture. After, Professor Wu Qianyan gave insight and results on his research and teaching. He also encouraged attending scholars to join Tsinghua SIGS.

After the presentations, attendees interacted and exchanged ideas. The shortlisted candidates will participate in the upcoming sub-forums in their respective fields.
In the future, the Tsinghua SIGS campus wants to continue to offer an internationalized education, which includes attracting top domestic and oversea talents who can contribute to SIGS becoming a top-tier graduate school.
