SIGS co-hosts IEEE East Asian School of Information Theory

The 2022 IEEE East Asian School of Information Theory (IEEE EASIT 2022) took place from August 2nd to 5th at the Shenzhen Institute for Talents Development. The four-day summer school brought together 107 participants from across East Asia; fifty-one attended offline. During the program, students attended eight tutorials delivered by expert scientists across different fields including information theory and machine learning.

IEEE EASIT 2022 was co-hosted by IEEE Information Theory Society Guangzhou Chapter, Tsinghua SIGS, Sun Yat-sen University, and The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen). This year was the first time the program was hosted in Shenzhen. Tutorials were delivered by scholars and industry professionals from MIT, University of Maryland, University of Pennsylvania, Texas A&M University, Georgia Institute of Technology, Bilkent University, University of New South Wales, and Southwest Jiaotong University. Teachers and students from universities including Tsinghua University, Fudan University, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), National University of Singapore, Sun Yat-sen University, Nankai University, Southern University of Science and Technology, and Shenzhen University participated in the summer school online and offline.

Sixty students submitted posters to the summer school. Li Guodong from SIGS was among the recipients of the best student poster award.C88A2888
