Tsinghua SIGS’s first one-on-one info session with an overseas university was held online on February 24. The event was organized by Tsinghua SIGS Admissions Office and supported by San Diego State University Georgia (SDSU Georgia).
Qiao Yang from Open FIESTA, Han Yuxing from the Institute of Data and Information, Lin Lin from the Institute of Environment and Ecology, Lei Yu from the Institute of Materials Research, Lv Shuai from the Institute of Future Human Habitats, Liu Xiao from the Institute of Biopharmaceutical and Health Engineering, Shen Xinwei and Ouyang Zhongkun from the Institute for Ocean Engineering - eight professors and staff members from 7 recruiting institutes and programs - delivered information on teaching resources, academic research, future development, and international educational features of Tsinghua SIGS. The Admissions Office and Office of Academic Affairs discussed admission requirements and the financial aid system and held an interactive Q&A session. The event attracted nearly 40 students and faculty from SDSU Georgia and its partner institutions.
The event was facilitated by student ambassador Davit Khutsishvili, a student from Georgia and former alumni of SDSU Georgia and a current PhD student at SIGS and student ambassador for international admissions. He stated, “Both programs and institutions have contributed immensely to my personal and professional growth. I am passionate about giving back and hope to introduce bright young talents to these opportunities while supporting SDSU Georgia and Tsinghua SIGS to continue providing high-quality STEM education to young scientists and engineers.”
To further enhance the global influence of Tsinghua SIGS, the Admissions Office has launched the Tsinghua SIGS Student Ambassador program for international student recruitment publicity, which aims to build a bridge for outstanding students from top international universities to understand SIGS and attract more international talents to join the school.
