Tsinghua University and Shenzhen deepen cooperation

Representatives from Tsinghua University and Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government met on November 5 in Shenzhen to sign an agreement for the comprehensive deepening of cooperation between the city and the university.  

Qiu Yong, secretary of the CPC Tsinghua University Committee, and Qin Weizhong, mayor of the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government, attended the signing ceremony. Jiang Peixue, vice president of Tsinghua University, and Chen Qing, vice mayor of the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government, signed the agreement on behalf of both parties. Ouyang Zheng, dean of SIGS, Wu Xiaofeng, SIGS CPC Secretary, and Ji Shishan, dean of the Research Institute of Tsinghua University in Shenzhen, also attended the ceremony and related events.

Both Tsinghua and Shenzhen will focus on serving the country's important strategies and follow the principles of "mutual benefit, deepening cooperation, collaborative innovation, and striving for practical results."  The two parties will continue to use their advantages to advance the development of Tsinghua SIGS and the Research Institute of Tsinghua University in Shenzhen. The two parties will also deepen pragmatic cooperation in fields including talent training, technological innovation, platform construction, transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and think-tank consulting.  

Both parties will promote education, science and technology, and talent in an integrated manner, expand the scope of education provided by SIGS, further promote a globalization strategy, optimize the overall arrangement of disciplines and majors, and accelerate the development of SIGS into a world-class graduate school while also contributing to the development of education, science and technology, and talent training in China.
