Program Overview

The full-time Master of Engineering program in Artificial Intelligence (AI) is one of the key development areas under the "6+1" thematic projects at SIGS. It is built on the foundation of the Control Science and Engineering discipline, integrating expertise from computer science, electronics, and related fields, such as computer vision, machine learning, natural language processing, intelligent robotics, smart networks, and operations optimization. The program collaborates closely with leading AI companies, including Ping An, Meituan, Huawei, Tencent, SenseTime, UBTECH, ByteDance, and Hyperparameter. Industry CTOs from these companies are invited as talent cultivation advisors, ensuring that the training program aligns with industry standards. The program adopts an "application-oriented" teaching and research model, offering joint courses with partner enterprises to provide seamless exposure to cutting-edge technologies. Industry experts are invited to deliver lectures, broadening students' perspectives. Leveraging SIGS's extensive international exchange resources, the program enhances students' global competence.

The program focuses on expanding core technologies and innovative methodologies driven by real-world AI applications, offering solutions to societal challenges through an "AI+X" interdisciplinary training model.

It aligns with national projects and development plans, integrating theoretical foundations, algorithms, and hardware-software platforms to foster multi-disciplinary talent through education-industry collaborations.  


- Cross-Disciplinary Integration and Targeted Training

The program promotes deep integration of AI with fundamental sciences, information technology, medicine, and social sciences. It also strengthens industry-education collaboration to create an ecosystem for innovation and talent development, ensuring precise training of industry-ready professionals.


Program Objectives

The program aims to cultivate high-level applied AI specialists and entrepreneurial talents equipped with:  Solid professional knowledge and skills,creativity and cross-disciplinary collaboration abilities,a global  outlookandstrategic vision,forward-thinkingabilities in the Al field and problem-solving skills.Graduates are expected to excel in technical research, management roles, and professional practice, while also demonstrating strong professional ethics and leadership qualities.


Talent Development

The program emphasizes the complementary strengths of hardware and software, multi-disciplinary integration, and close collaboration between academia and industry. Students have published research papers in leading journals such as AMI, TNNLS, and TFS, as well as presented at top-tier conferences, including CVPR, NeurIPS, ICDE, IJCAI, AAAI, ACL, ACM MM, ICRA, IROS, CDC, ACC, and IFAC. They have also received numerous honors, including National Scholarships and awards for outstanding theses.  

In extracurricular activities, students have excelled in various sports, earning championships in events like the Welcome Cup badminton, volleyball, and football tournaments.  

In terms of career development, graduates from the program are highly sought after by leading companies in the AI and high-tech industries, with their professional skills and innovative abilities widely recognized by the industry. A number of graduates also pursue further academic achievements at top universities worldwide.
