Delegation of Algerian Parliamentarians Visits Tsinghua SIGS

On June 23, a delegation led by Mr. Mohammed Amroun, Vice President of the Algerian Council of the Nation (Upper House), and Mr. Ramdane Khendriche, Vice President of the People's National Assembly (Lower House), visited Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School (Tsinghua SIGS). Professor Zuo Jian’e, Associate Dean of SIGS, delivered a welcome speech, and Mr. Mohammed Amroun gave an address. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on international exchange and cooperation in higher education, jointly expressing their strong interest in deepening collaboration in education and scientific research.


During the meeting, Associate Professor Zhang Yi, Director of the Office of Global Affairs, gave a detailed introduction to SIGS’s educational philosophy, international features, academic structure, research achievements, and progress in international cooperation. The Algerian delegation highly praised SIGS’s accomplishments in promoting educational modernization and internationalization.

In the interactive exchange session, the Algerian representatives raised numerous questions about the education model, talent selection mechanisms, and research collaboration platforms of Chinese universities, showing great interest. The delegation expressed that Algeria and China have maintained long-standing cooperation in the fields of business and trade, and they hope to establish equally deep and enduring partnerships in education. They also expressed a strong desire to foster closer collaboration with Tsinghua University by encouraging more Algerian students to pursue advanced studies at Tsinghua, and by promoting faculty and student exchanges as well as joint research between institutions in both countries.

This meeting laid a solid foundation for future cooperation between SIGS and Algerian higher education and research institutions.
