Recently, the 21st National High Performance Computing Conference (HPC China 2025) concluded successfully in Ordos under the theme Green Computing Power, Fusion of HPC and AI. During the conference, the organizing committee announced the results of the 12th Parallel Application Challenge (PAC).
A team of students from Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School achieved outstanding results, capturing the Grand Prize in the Application Track of the competition. The group consisted of Xu Yunpu, a 2025 PhD student in Computer Technology; Wu Xiyong, a 2025 master’s student in Computer Technology; Tan Xiongchuan, a 2024 master’s student in Data Science and Information Technology; and Zhang Jinxiao, a 2022 PhD student from the Department of Earth System Science at Tsinghua University.

Their winning project, titled Optimization of Training and Inference for Generative Foundation Model DiT on New-Generation Domestic CPU Architectures, demonstrated cutting-edge innovations in high-performance computing applications. The team was advised by Professor Fu Haohuan.
The project focused on efficient training and inference optimization for generative foundational models, specifically tailored to new domestic CPU architectures. It showcased not only technical excellence but also highlighted the potential of homegrown technologies in advancing the field of artificial intelligence and large-scale computing.
Additionally, the team won the Second Prize in the Optimization Track for their high-performance INT8 matrix multiplication and Attention operator optimization designed for the Kunpeng architecture.
The PAC is one of the most influential competitions in the field of parallel computing in China, dedicated to promoting the application of high-performance computing technologies and nurturing talent. This year’s competition attracted over 200 teams from universities, research institutions, and industries across the country.
