Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School (Tsinghua SIGS) signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with several faculties and a research institute at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) during a recent visit to Hong Kong by Tsinghua University President Li Luming.

The cooperation involves HKU's Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Engineering, and the Hong Kong Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics.
Under the MoUs, Tsinghua SIGS and HKU will explore in-depth collaboration in areas including joint doctoral training, student exchanges, and scientific research in fields such as materials science, sustainable energy, biomedical engineering, and environmental and marine engineering.
On Dec. 22, Li met with Y.C. Richard Wong, Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor of HKU. They jointly witnessed the signing of the MoUs. Li noted that the signing of the MoUs will effectively advance and deepen cooperation across multiple fields. He expressed hope that both sides will fully leverage their innovative resources, further strengthen exchanges between faculty and students, and enhance collaboration in talent cultivation and scientific research.
Wong said that HKU and Tsinghua University have long maintained close cooperation and expressed hope that the two institutions would continue to expand and deepen collaboration across more academic disciplines, enhance academic exchange, and jointly cultivate graduates with international perspectives.

Following the MoU signing ceremony, Wu Qianyuan, Assistant Dean of Tsinghua SIGS, met with representatives from HKU’s Faculty of Engineering. Both sides expressed their intention to jointly promote the signing of a doctoral student exchange agreement and to pursue cooperation in areas such as talent cultivation and scientific research.
Established in 1911, HKU is the oldest tertiary education institution in Hong Kong. In recent years, HKU has consistently ranked among the world's top universities, with particular strengths in fields such as medicine, law, business, engineering, and social sciences.
