New Agreement Signed Between SIGS and USJ in Macao

Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School (Tsinghua SIGS) and the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) in Macao signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on March 25 during a visit by a Tsinghua SIGS delegation led by Associate Dean Zuo Jian’e.

The agreement aims to promote faculty and student exchanges, as well as to strengthen academic interaction and cultural engagement. Both sides will advance collaboration in areas including reciprocal visits, joint research, co-development of courses, and collaborative projects, with the goal of elevating innovation and talent cultivation in the fields of environment and ecology.

Alexandre Lobo, Vice Rector of USJ, warmly welcomed the delegation. He highlighted USJ’s strengths in international education, particularly its ability to connect academic resources and networks across Europe and the Americas, with a special focus on Portuguese-speaking countries. He also expected to deepen cooperation with Tsinghua SIGS in areas such as environmental science and marine science, and to jointly advance innovation and development.


Zuo introduced the academic structure and admissions profile of Tsinghua SIGS, and emphasized the school’s strong commitment to internationalization and global academic exchange. He noted that Tsinghua SIGS welcomes diverse forms of international collaboration and looks forward to developing exchanges and partnerships with USJ. By leveraging the geographic advantages of Shenzhen and Macao, both sides can further expand international education networks.

Following the meeting, the Tsinghua SIGS delegation including faculty members and representative students held discussions with USJ’s Institute of Science and Environment and participated in a biology-themed forum organized by the institute.
