Happy Graduation! SIGS Holds 2026 Commencement Ceremony

Amid cheers and celebration, Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School (Tsinghua SIGS) held its 2026 commencement ceremony for graduate students at the University Town International Conference Center on the morning of June 25.


As of June, Tsinghua SIGS celebrated a total of 1,381 graduates, including 1,256 master's graduates and 125 doctoral graduates.

Tsinghua SIGS leaders, faculty representatives, graduates, alumni, and graduates’ family members attended the ceremony. Tsinghua SIGS Associate Dean Wu Qianyuan presided over the ceremony.


In his remarks, Ouyang Zheng, Dean of Tsinghua SIGS, extended his congratulations to the graduates and encouraged them to be deliberate actors in an uncertain world.

Tian Miaomiao, a master's graduate in Electrical Engineering, reflected on her experiences in scientific research, student work, and social practice, saying they had strengthened her commitment to contributing to the country's energy development in the future.

Li Jiarong, a doctoral graduate in Data Science and Information Technology, shared three things that Tsinghua SIGS had nurtured in him: the courage to question the unknown in research, the self-awareness to step beyond boundaries, and a commitment to continuous engagement with the real world.

“Tsinghua taught us one phrase: actions speak louder than words. So let us not simply hold this gratitude in our hearts. Let us give our warmest applause to everyone who walked with us to this day,” said Davit Khutsishvili from Georgia, an international doctoral graduate in Precision Medicine and Healthcare.

Following the student speeches, Wang Xiaoxiong, Associate Professor from the Institute for Ocean Engineering, shared three keywords that summarized his learning and research experience: excellence, interdisciplinarity, and perseverance.

He urged graduates to ask new questions and emphasized the value of interdisciplinarity and perseverance in challenging times.

He encouraged graduates to be long-term thinkers in an era of rapid technological change, cultivate structured cognition within complex systems, and embrace the future amid uncertainty.


The ceremony concluded with Tsinghua University's anthem.
