SIGS and UTokyo hold Joint Workshop on Biomedical and Health Engineering

On December 4, Tsinghua SIGS and University of Tokyo (UTokyo) held a workshop on Biomedical and Health Engineering to explore new modes of collaboration in graduate education.

 

Gao Hong, Executive Dean of SIGS welcomed representatives from UTokyo and expressed anticipation towards future research collaboration and joint talent training with the Japanese university. Xing Xinhui, Vice Dean of the Institute of Biopharmaceutical and Health Engineering at SIGS and Hitoshi TABATA, Dean of department of Bioengineering at UTokyo then gave brief introductions of their respective schools, departments and future development plans. Faculty members shared about their scientific research during the workshop.

 

Representatives of UTokyo also visited the Precision Medicine and Healthcare research lab and the Biomedical Detection and Imaging research lab at SIGS. The exchange allowed faculty from both schools to discuss possibilities and models of collaboration, reaching a consensus to strengthen and promote cooperation between the two schools.

In recent years, SIGS has made great efforts to internationalize its graduate education. By collaborating with leading universities worldwide, the school provides opportunities for students to broaden their horizons as well as cultivate a spirit of scientific discovery and innovation. The SIGS-UTokyo joint workshop marks the first step for future cooperation between the two universities.

 

University of Tokyo is a world-class public research university which not only has great impact in Japanese academia, but has also nurtured many award-winning alumni, faculty and researchers over the years.
