ISSO and Student Union hold Dumpling Event for SIGS International community

To allow more international faculty and students to experience traditional Chinese culture, enhance cross-cultural communication and cultivate team spirit, the International Students and Scholars Office (ISSO) and the International Department of Tsinghua SIGS Student Union held a "New Year Dumplings" event at the SIGS Happy Meal Time dining hall. More than 30 Chinese and international faculty and students participated in the event on December 28.

During the event, Chinese students introduced the origin of dumplings, festivals and related customs to international students. Both sides exchanged methods of dumpling-making and learned from each other. The activity brought Chinese and foreign students together, built community and provided an opportunity for cultural exchange.

Participants said that the event not only allowed them to experience the fun of making dumplings and gain a better understanding of new year food customs, it also helped spread traditional Chinese culture so that more people can appreciate the profoundness of Chinese food culture.
