12th IUPAC International Symposium on Bioorganic Chemistry concludes

The 12th International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) International Symposium on Bioorganic Chemistry (ISBOC-12) was successfully held at Tsinghua SIGS from December 16 to 18. The event welcomed researchers and scientists from over 17 countries, who presented 9 plenary lectures, 44 invited lectures and 20 talks.

As one of the most important and influential bioorganic chemistry conferences in the world, the ISBOC symposium series aim at enhancing scientific communication among global investigators in chemical biology and promoting the development of molecular biosciences, including bio-organic chemistry, medicinal and biological chemistry, structural biology, synthetic biology and related sciences.

This year, the symposium focused on the theme of Chemical Biology: Innovation for Better Healthcare, covering three areas including synthetic biomacromolecules for understanding and tuning of natural systems, chemical probes for probing and perturbing biological processes, and emerging tools for chemical biology.

ISBOC-12 is organized by Tsinghua SIGS, the State Key Laboratory of Chemical Oncogenomics, Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School, and the Shenzhen Science and Technology Development Exchange Center. This year also marks the 100th anniversary of IUPAC’s founding and the 150th anniversary of Dmitri Mendeleev’s periodic table.
