About
The Pharmaceutical Engineering Program started enrolling graduate students in 2019. Students will be jointly educated by the Shenzhen International Graduate School and the Department of Chemical Engineering of Tsinghua University. All faculty members of our program are devoted to the development and education of future innovation leaders in pharmaceutical engineering and relevant fields in China.
The full-time professional master’s program emphasizes collaboration among industry, university and research institutes. Training components are designed to provide students with solid theoretical knowledge in pharmaceutical engineering and equip them with analytical and innovative thinking, which will enable them to identify and solve interdisciplinary engineering issues on the frontiers of research. Students will adhere to academic and professional standards and ethics, and become future leaders in industrial innovation and development.
Research
The Pharmaceutical Engineering Program relies on multiple scientific research platformsin chemical engineering, chemistry, biology, and biomedical engineering at Tsinghua SIGS, the State Key Laboratory of Chemical Oncogenomics and the Medical Health Technology and Engineering Research Institute of Shenzhen Bay Laboratory. Students are encouraged to develop innovative thinking and creativity in the interdisciplinary and international research environment.
Professional Development
The professional master’s program aims to cultivate students’ creativity, innovation capability, and entrepreneurial ability. The interdisciplinary approach involving university-industry cooperation also means that students are expected to develop leadership skills in technology development management, modern facilities operation and product quality monitoring.
Students will complete graduate training under the guidance of excellent faculty composedof Tsinghua and industry professionals. Outstanding graduates will work in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, nutrition and medical device industries worldwide.
Faculty
Faculty of the Pharmaceutical Engineering Program includes professors from Tsinghua University in biology, chemistry, chemical engineering, biomedical engineering and other disciplines. Professionals in the biopharmaceutical industry also conduct training and research with students.

Advisor Group System:
An advisor group comprised of professors from Tsinghua University and mentors from well-known biomedical companies jointly take responsibilities in setting training objectives and models, designing curriculum, guiding thesis work, and industrial practice.
