With the Tsinghua SIGS campus located at the thriving Greater Bay Area, our courses offer great opportunities for students to visit leading hi-tech companies. Students are able to see the practical applications of concepts that they are learning about, and also gain inspiration for their future careers.
"Internet Thinking and Technology" class visits Huawei
The "Internet Thinking and Technology" class visited the Huawei Ox Horn Campus at Songshan Lake in Dongguan last week. Students learned about Huawei’s autonomous driving network at the X-PIE Autonomous Driving Network Innovation Lab, and also got to know about Huawei’s business and career opportunities.
Huawei’s autonomous driving network is designed to tackle structural challenges of telecom network TCO through system-level innovation. Network automation, artificial intelligence (AI) and digital twin technologies enable a more simplified telecom network, improving efficiency and resource utilization. Targeting telecom carriers, it is committed to forging an industry-university-research cooperation platform to promote the transformation of technology results. Students were able to learn more about operator networks, as well as cutting-edge directions and achievements in the network AI field at the X-PIE Autonomous Driving Network Innovation Lab.
Students then met with Liu Guangbin, Campus Recruitment Manager of Huawei in South China, who introduced the company’s businesses and strategic plans, providing students a reference for planning their future career.
At the end of the visit, the group toured the European-themed campus, where buildings are modelled after famous castles and palaces. Students were able to see the practical applications of big data, AI and theoretical technologies learned in the classroom, and gained a better understanding of Huawei’s business and missions.
"Modern Information Network Technology" class visits TP-LINK
Associate Professor Dong Yuhan and students from the course "Modern Information Network Technology" recently visited TP-LINK, a leading global provider of network communication equipment.
Founded in 1996, TP-LINK produces Ethernet, wireless LAN, broadband access, power line communication and security monitoring products, and has further expanded to fields such as smart homes, smart buildings, AI, cloud computing, edge computing, data storage and network security, providing users with more systematic equipment, solutions and services.
During the visit, students met with engineers who were graduates from Tsinghua University’s Department of Electronic Engineering and Institute of Microelectronics. They introduced the company's latest technologies, Wi-Fi 6 products, and engaged in discussion with students on issues of AI, optical communication as well as questions about career development.
Students were able to learn about the latest development of technologies in the industry, and gained a better understanding of the application of new technologies in solutions and actual products during this visit.
