On March 19th, the HSK Study Abroad in China Online Info Session: Egypt was held. Tsinghua was among twenty other universities joining HSK test takers and students from Egypt for a discussion on studying abroad in China. Radwa Adel, a Tsinghua SIGS student from Egypt, Pan Shuai from the Tsinghua Graduate Admissions Office, and representatives from the Tsinghua SIGS Admissions Office attended the event.
Radwa Adel was chosen to deliver a presentation about Tsinghua SIGS in Arabic. Radwa started her studies at Tsinghua SIGS in 2020. For her undergraduate degree, she studied at Beijing Jiaotong University. In those four years, she not only improved her Chinese, but also fell in love with China. After graduation, she decided to pursue a master’s degree in Data Science and Information Technology at Tsinghua SIGS. Radwa was awarded the China-Africa Friendship scholarship from the Chinese government to continue her studies.
During the information session, Radwa introduced Tsinghua SIGS, touching upon research, academic discipline development, internationalization, campus life, and scholarships for international students. “During my time at Tsinghua, I got a lot of help and support from my professors and classmates. I love the liveliness and international environment of the SIGS campus,” she shared. At SIGS, she learned a lot about the frontiers of her field. Her only regret is that she couldn’t spend more time on campus due to pandemic-related restrictions. Attendees really enjoyed Radha’s presentation. “You make us love the university,” expressed one student.

After Radwa’s presentation, Tsinghua SIGS admissions staff answered questions about various aspects of international admissions, including the application process, academics, and scholarship opportunities.

Radwa reflected on her experience after the information session: “Introducing Tsinghua for Egyptian students was a great honor for me, it even helped me know more about Tsinghua’s programs. It was an easy session because I only needed to tell my true experience in Tsinghua and in admission, which was a great experience for me. The Egyptian students were very interested to know more about Tsinghua and its admission process, even students who aren’t enrolled in undergraduate programs yet. They were most interested in the programs available, and if they can do a one-year exchange. They asked me a lot of questions about it after the session and about the admission process. They were really interested in Tsinghua because of how the university addresses all aspects any student is looking for, from a high-quality education to a convenient campus life. I’d like to thank Ms Biattis and Ms Pan for preparing an amazing presentation for me to present and offering me such a great honor to present Tsinghua. Communicating with the students reignited my passion and love for Tsinghua that I always had.”
Since October 2021, Tsinghua SIGS has held five online information sessions for 2022 admissions. This was the first time an admissions presentation was delivered in Arabic. The success of the presentation opens the opportunity to holding more information sessions in different languages to offer students a more accurate understanding of Tsinghua SIGS while also allowing them to experience the international atmosphere of our school virtually.
