SIGS accomplishments on exhibit at China Marine Economy Expo

Research accomplishments from Tsinghua SIGS were on display at the 2022 China Marine Economy Expo which took place at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center from November 24 to 26. This year's expo was held in a hybrid format, exhibiting China’s marine development achievements as well as new technologies and achievements in global marine economic development. More than 1,000 exhibitors from around the world and more than 7,000 projects participated in the expo.

Tsinghua SIGS and the Research Institute of Tsinghua University in Shenzhen shared an exhibition area in Hall 1. Fifteen research groups and more than 20 key scientific research projects participated in the expo, covering multiple research directions such as ocean engineering, marine information, marine equipment, marine energy, and marine ecology and environment. The projects not only highlighted the interdisciplinary and innovative nature of the ocean engineering discipline at Tsinghua SIGS but also the results of its government and industry collaborations.

The exhibited projects showcased the high-tech achievements of Tsinghua University's academic marine disciplines in the ocean-related field and its progress in the industrialization of marine technology, including scientific and technological achievements that have undergone commercialization. These projects include “Development and System Optimization of Marine Plankton Monitoring Sensor” from Cai Zhonghua’s team and “Portable mass spectrometer” from Wang Xiaohao and Ni Kai’s team.

The booth also displayed scientific projects with industrial prospects and those at the forefront of the research field. These include “Digital twin and digital disaster prevention platform for ocean” developed by Zhang Jianmin and Hu Zhenzhong’s team, “In-situ exploitation technology and equipment for marine natural gas hydrate” developed by Chen Daoyi’s team, “Hydrate-based CO2 capture and storage (HBCCS)” developed by Yin Zhenyuan’s team, “In-situ prober for marine particles” developed by Ma Hui and Liao Ran’s team, “Offshore integrated floater” developed Zheng Xiangyuan’s team, and “Subsea multiphase flow measurement and control technology for offshore oil and gas fields” developed by Li Yi’s team.

Marine-discipline-related research sub-platforms from SIGS and the X-Lake Sciensity Marine Industry Shared Service Platform also exhibited their achievements at the expo, including their frameworks, operations, and service examples.
