Lu Shuai, who joined SIGS in September 2022, researches smart building design, aiming to create comfortable, efficient, and sustainable human habitats through artificial intelligence and other technologies. He has led two projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and co-led a project funded by the Australian Research Council. In addition to the AUA Scholars Award Program, Lu will participate in other international exchanges. He has acquired a Foreign Expert Project from the Ministry of Science and Technology of the PRC and will invite the renowned architectural scientist, Professor Richard de Dear, to be a distinguished guest professor at SIGS for two months. Lu has also been awarded a Global Visiting Professorship at the Technical University of Munich and will be visiting the university for one month.

As a recipient of the AUA Scholars Award, Lu will visit the National University of Singapore under the invitation of Yuan Chao, an associate professor at the university’s Department of Architecture. In addition to sharing more about his institute’s research, Lu looks forward to learning more about the creation of comfortable outdoor environments from Yuan, a well-known scholar on the subject.

I also hope to meet more scholars from Singapore engaged in research in the field of smart buildings through this visit and further expand academic exchanges and cooperation between our two institutions,” said Lu. “Thank you to the Asian Universities Alliance for providing such a good platform and opportunity.”

Additionally, Srineash Vijaya Kumar, an assistant professor from the Department of Civil Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, will visit SIGS under the invitation of Wang Enhao, assistant professor at the SIGS Institute for Ocean Engineering, as part of the program.

In 2018, the Asian Universities Alliance (AUA) launched the AUA Scholars Award Program (AUASAP), a flagship project aimed at boosting international research linkages and academic advancements. By facilitating AUA members to host scholars from other member universities for a duration of two weeks, the AUASAP provides a steadfast platform for meaningful academic exchanges and synergy between the 15 AUA members.
