Today, SIGS welcomed around 1,900 new students to campus for registration. 

The excitement in the air was palpable as the incoming 2024 cohort marked their first day on campus.

This year’s incoming cohort includes over 390 doctoral students and approximately 1,500 master’s students. The newest members of the SIGS family come from 26 countries.

Enthusiastic volunteers and staff warmly greeted and guided our new SIGSers. Staff members from the International Students and Scholars Center/Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Students and Scholars Center helped incoming international and Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan students with their registration process.

Throughout the day, students captured their first moments on campus at photo spots located throughout the East Building Complex.

To our newest SIGSers: today marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter of your lives. At SIGS, you will experience learning, growth, and transformation.

Hear from our new students

Lamziouaq Lina is an incoming master’s student from Morocco majoring in pharmaceutical engineering. “I'm thrilled about my first day at SIGS! Shortly, 我太爱了! (I love it!),” said Lina. “The staff has been amazing and everything went smoothly on registration day. I'm determined to work hard to make the most of this fantastic opportunity!”

Ma Yinuo, an incoming PhD student in Electronic Information from Shandong Province, reflected, “Today, for many of us, marks a moment of realizing our dreams.” She continued, “The convenient shuttle buses at the campus entrance, the volunteers who are both busy and smiling, and the straightforward registration process showed us the school’s thoughtful care and support.”
