On the morning of October 9, an Academician Seminar was held at Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School (SIGS). Ye Hengqiang, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, delivered a keynote report at the seminar.
Drawing from his extensive research experience, Academician Ye Hengqiang illustrated the core principles of scientific research and education. He shared his journey from student to teacher, the valuable lessons he learned from his mentors, and his insights on continuously striving for excellence in academic research. By citing his research achievements, Academician Ye illustrated the exploratory process of scientific discovery, emphasizing the pivotal role of teachers in students’ development. He particularly noted that teachers should teach students to maintain independent thinking and a rigorous academic spirit by precept and example. During his speech, Academician Ye discussed the current academic atmosphere in the research community, calling on researchers to persist in promoting knowledge accumulation and technological development under the guidance of a positive academic atmosphere.
In the Q&A session, Academician Ye Hengqiang answered questions raised by SIGS teachers and students. This face-to-face exchange not only deepened the understanding of the diligent and rigorous attitude in scientific research among the audience but also provided valuable insights and inspiration for them to advance on their research journeys.
