2027 Admissions to Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduation School are Now Open!

Overview

Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduation School (SIGS) offers 22 Doctoral Programs and 40 Master's Programs to international students. The study period for Master's degree programs is generally 2 years, and that for Doctoral degree programs is 3-4 years. For students with a Bachelor's degree who move on directly to pursue a Doctoral degree program, the study period is normally 4-5 years.

Qualifications of Applicants

1. The students who will enroll in 2027 must obtain the nationally recognized bachelor's or master's degree (for the universities of Chinese mainland) or the degree authentication report issued by Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange, Ministry of Education, P.R.China (CSCSE) (for overseas universities) before THU graduate student registration date of 2027, otherwise the admission qualification is invalid.

2. For bachelor degree holders to pursue doctoral degrees. Applicants must provide a HSK certificate and score report which show they have reached the level required by the target program (please see the requirements in Catalog). For non-native English speakers must meet the minimum English proficiency: IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL iBT 85 (for tests taken prior to January 21, 2026) / 4.5 (for tests taken on or after January 21, 2026). Applicants who have completed their undergraduate studies full-time in Chinese/English must submit a certificate from their graduation institute. After obtaining the permission of our school, they can be exempted from submitting the HSK score certificate or English proficiency test report.

The application opens from now on and closes at 17:00 p.m. Beijing Time on May 15, 2027.

For information on Chinese Government Scholarship application, please refer to China Scholarship Council official website and provide corresponding Chinese or English proficiency test report according to the requirements of the scholarship application.

Financial Aid

The scholarships will be granted on both merit and need basis.

1. Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS) — National-Level

The Full CGS usually covers tuition, stipend, accommodation subsidy, and medical insurance. Annual Review is strictly required for all CGS holders.

2. Tuition Scholarship — University-Level

Covers full or partial tuition fee with a duration of one academic year. Applicants may apply for Tuition Scholarships annually (competitive).

3. SIGS International Student Scholarship — School-Level

Full-time international new students admitted to our school will be ranked and selected based on their previous academic achievements, research outcomes, and overall performance. Tuition fee waivers will be granted according to the annual scholarship evaluation results.

4. Scholarships offered by specific institutions or academic programs — Institute-Level

Living allowance

For doctoral students: 3,810 RMB/month 

For master's students: 600 RMB/month

Visa Application and Registration

Normally, registration is held in late August or early September at Shenzhen, Guangdong. All students should present the required original degree certificates, and submit the degree authentication issued by THU designated institutions upon registration at Tsinghua University for enrollment qualification review. Students who fail the enrollment qualification review will be disqualified from enrollment and study at Tsinghua University.

Accommodation

SIGS provides accommodation for all full-time graduate students. 

School accommodation is automatically reserved for admitted students and students do not need to apply on their own. Housing rate for 2027 will be noticed upon registration. Students who wish to live off-campus are required to provide the International Students & Scholars Center (issc@sz.tsinghua.edu.cn) with their address, and are responsible for completing a Registration Form of Temporary Residence for Visitors within 24 hours of moving in.
