    Master’s & Ph.D. Advising

    (1) Fates and control of antibiotic resistant bacteria (ARB) and antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) in drinking water/sewage treatment plants as well as natural environments;


    (2) Biodegradation pathway and mechanisms of emerging pollutants (antibiotics, PPCPs, and EDCs) revealed using metabolic approach (QToF-MS/MS) and metagenomic & metatranscriptomic approaches;


    (3) Application of high-throughput sequencing for characterization of microbial community and gene expression related to drinking water/reclaimed water/sewage treatment process and soil/sediment bioremediation;


    (4) Transformation and fate of emerging pollutants in different disinfection processes, including chlorination, UV and ozonation using the high accuracy QToF-MS/MS technology combined with the quantum chemistry calculation approach.

    Research Output

    Dr. Li has published 76 peer-reviewed papers, including 6 ESI Highly Cited Paper on the top journals of ISME J, Microbiome, Environmental Science & Technology and Water Research etc. with >4900 citations and H index of 35. He has presented 6 invited/keynote speech in international and regional conference/symposium during the past three years. Since the beginning of his independent academic career in 2015, he has applied for 14 research grants (10 PI+4 Co-PI) including 2 NSFC grants successfully as the PI. The total approved funding amount is about 12.89 million CNY.
