今年,1200多名研究生新生加入到清华大学深圳国际研究生院这个大家庭。让我们来一睹萌新们的风采吧!
Riccardo comes from Tuscany, Italy, and is 22 years old. He did not come to Shenzhen unprepared as he is already familiar with Chinese culture, being in the Country already for two years. In fact, he got his bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from Polytechnic of Turin, Italy, and in Information Technology Engineering from Tongji University, Shanghai. 'A friend studying here recommended me this institute, and I expect an english-speaking environment, international-friendly and competitive on a global scale where I can do cutting-edge research'. The close ties with the word of industry is what attracts Riccardo the most of TBSI. Currently he is a Master’s student in Center 2, and when asked he said 'I have high expectations on this place, for sure I won’t go back'. In his future, Riccardo sees himself probably working in China or in Asia, as he is totally fascinated by oriental cultures and civilizations.
Farzin comes from Iran, he is 31 and he is a PhD student in Center 1. He worked on saline sea water processing to obtain drinkable water during his previous studies in Istanbul, Turkey. Here in TBSI, he hopes to keep working in the field of waste water treatment. Farzin acknowledges the issue of the scarcity of clean drinking water in many regions of the world and the social and health problems deriving from it, and he wants to make a change. Farzin aims at mastering Chinese language, but also to gain international exposure from such an innovative platform as TBSI. In five years from now, he hopes to have contributed to produce original and interdisciplinary research, and he does not exclude China for a future postdoctoral position.
Steve is 31 and comes from Michigan, USA and hopes to do data-driven research to support the development of more effective and sustainable public policy. He is a Master’ s Student of Center 2. It is not his first time in China, as he has been an intern in Shanghai for four months before.‘That’s why I like it, is an opportunity to learn and grow.' he said, 'I also like the peacefulness of China, both inner and outer’. IN TBSI he expects to lay solid basis to become an aware and competent researcher in future. When asked about his goals, Steve mentioned the importance of the impact that his work should have on the society and to guarantee access to education. In future, he will most likely enroll in a PhD, but he is still unsure on whether it will be in US or in China.
